Parents:

Please use this website to familiarize yourself with our classroom, the wonderful work we are doing and the ways in which we can work together to make this a successful year for your child. Your involvement is important to us! Don't forget to have discussions with your child about what he/she is doing at school. We can't wait to show you all of the amazing work we will be doing this year! I will be using this homepage as a blog to keep you updated on class activities, so stay tuned!

                                  How Our Class Works

Daily Notes

Daily notes will be posted online. Students may chose to print these notes prior to class and add to them as we learn together. You can find notes under the Notes tab.

Homework

The first 15 minutes of each class will be focused on taking up homework and clearing up any questions you may have. If you aren't sure, ask! There will also be a question box on my desk. If you have a question but are too afraid to ask it, place the question in the box and we will address it the next day. Homework assignments can be found on the Calendar.

Quizzes

Each Friday, we will have a learning demo. A learning demo is an opportunity for you students to show what they know! This will take different forms throughout the year. Some weeks it may be a quiz. In other weeks, it may be a real-world assignment. I will post all instructions and important information about assignments under the Assignments tab.

Calendar

Please use the Calendar to check for due dates and upcoming assignments.

Extra Help

I am available for help at lunch and after school. Take advantage of this time! I am here to help you find success this year, but we will need to work together as a team!  

Marks

For a mark breakdown, please check the Marks tab.

We will be completing our class work in a variety of ways this year including:

• Independent practice
• Group activities
• Guided tasks with a small group

Resources 

  We will be using a variety of resources in math this year including Nelson Mathematics 8.

  Our classroom is equipped with a Smartboard and we will be using a class set of iPads, when needed.
